The current developments in medical technology are numerous. The next generation of medical products are becoming miniaturized, personalized, multifunctional and smarter – and thus more complex to manufacture. At the same time, the industry is subject to high regulatory requirements and strong price pressure. New products will therefore only be successful on the market in the long term if they can be manufactured economically, safely and in high quality.
In this context, new production approaches can be an enabler for the next generation of medical technology. In particular, the ongoing developments in production technology such as industrial technologies 4.0 or high precision manufacturing offer new possibilities for supporting, improving or completely redesigning production processes. In this presentation, we describe how the trends in medical technology can benefit from new production approaches.
