As in any discipline, young talent or young scientists determine the future of the discipline. They bring new ideas, are not distracted by old traditions, are inquisitive, can be inspired and, through commitment and initiative, can in turn arouse enthusiasm and establish new focal points and paths. Laboratory medicine, which is certainly the broadest diagnostic field, is also distinguished by its professional diversity in terms of its young talent. Within the first session of this day, young as well as already established young scientists will present their scientific results. We will learn more about the role of cellular immunity in SARS-CoV-2 infection as well as the role of exosomes in cardiomyopathy. In addition, we may broaden our view of the field by learning about the place and perspectives of laboratory medicine in Bolivia and will learn how analysis of all circulating nucleic acids complements classical liquid profiling and expands diagnostic options in oncology.
